"Climate Change, Agriculture, Food Security, and the Roles of Local Food Systems" Webinar Organized by WikiPangan, CIFOR-ICRAF Indonesia, and Bapanas

 

This afternoon I joined "Bincang Pangan Episode 4" organized by WikiPangan and it talked about "Climate Change, Agriculture, Food Security, and the Roles of Local Food Systems" where the speakers were Ibu Betha Lusiana from CIFOR-ICRAF Indonesia and Ibu Rinna Syawal from Badan Pangan Nasional (Bapanas). 

It was an important and interesting topic that maybe was easy to discuss, but it was not simple to be implemented. Climate Change, which causes and is followed by disasters, affects the Agriculture Production, then it makes a declining of food quantity and quality, so it will affect the food security status, which are consisted of availibility, accessilibity, affordability, and utilization factors. Besides the climate change affects the food and agriculture production, agriculture also has a big contribution to Greenhouse Gas Emission and Climate Change. So we need an extra effort to tackle it by contributing and implementing low carbon agriculture and climate smart agriculture, also constructing the local food systems which has a suitabililty with local wisdom and culture. Those are the possible actions that we could do to minimize the worst scenario.
