"Indonesia Net Zero Seminar II: The Interplay of Urban Planning, Civil Systems, and Political Ecology in Navigating the Sustainable Transition", Organized by SAPPK ITB and Resilience Development Initiative (RDI)

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, I attended "Indonesia Net Zero Seminar II: The Interplay of Urban Planning, Civil Systems, and Political Ecology in Navigating the Sustainable Transition", organized by SAPPK ITB and Resilience Development Initiative (RDI) via Zoom meeting. The seminar gave me a view of how low-carbon technologies, innovation ecosystems, and green financing mechanisms can be harnessed to deliver the core benefits of net-zero policies, which are driving national climate resilience, stimulating robust economic growth, and securing long-term energy independence.

Mr. Saut Sagala mentioned that one of the Sector Focuses that has an important role is Agriculture, in terms of AFOLU Sectors (Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use). We must pay attention to restoring degraded land through rehabilitation, restoring and protecting peatlands, preventing land degradation, controlling forest fires, and adopting sustainable farming and climate-smart agricultural practices.

As someone who took the "Participatory Regional Planning" Course at the Master of Agricultural Economics at the Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University, and the "Agriculture Policy and Regulation" Course at the Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering - SITH ITB, I felt that I have a responsibility to help achieving this net-zero emissions target by 2060 in my field of expertise and concern which is adopting sustainable farming and climate-smart agricultural practices, also creating a sustainable rural planning and development.

Let's achieve it together and contribute to the Net Zero Goal of our beloved country, Indonesia, with our contribution on research, business, and community development. So, we, as a nation, could work and cooperate together to create a better planet and prosperity.

I would like to share with you the materials from the seminar, as well as the policy brief. So, here they are, happy learning and enjoying!
